Devlin - Dagenham
Island Records have just made Devlin their newest signing. London City boy Devlin was also at the beginning of the year tipped to be one of the main artists to watch in 2010 by the highly rated BBC Sound of List. It's been a great couple of years for Devlin, especially music wise with Tales of the Crypt, which Community Outcast originally featured. This mixtape fully edge him into the respected grime crowd with his memorable vigorous descriptions of a world so far away from the glamorized dramatics of Eastenders, all folded up and packaged in a skippy flow with all the punchlines and vocab we needed . We've seen him war with Wiley, well who haven't we seen go against him? in the finest war reports grime has had. 2009 had to be a year though for Devlin who released videos Community Outcast, London City and Giant under Channel AKA's development label 360. Although apparently the sudden injection of motivation was more down to him quitting smoking weed than anything else. It's great news for D.E.V and if he keeps on giving us the magic we love then really, it's great news for us. Bud, Sweat and Beers under Island/Universal is going to be an epic album, I wonder how the mainstream will take to him!?
